The Bow Blouse

Olivia Palermo has worn this blouse in several ocations. It is simple but gives the outfit a twist. Nothing says 'prep!' like a bow, hence being one of Blair Waldorf's fetishes. But you can wear it in a not-so-corny manner by toning down the rest of the outfit. Olivia has worn the same blouse in several occasions, with completely different outfits. Here are some examples:

The good news: You can make your own bow blouse! All you need is a white blouse and a ribbon. Any colour will do, it doesn't have to necessarily be black. Try combining other colours like navy blue or even red. I don't think this needs any more explanation, if I do my own I'll upload the pics. Oh, and she's not the only one sporting this blouse.

Miu Miu Inspired Hair

Youtube channel 'LetsMakeitUp1' has great hair tutorials. I love this one inspired by the Miu Miu Show of this year. Classy and simple. It also reminds me of Adele's signature hair but perhaps more 'wearable'. The trick is to get a nice teased crown. Here is the link to her channel:

The Headband Part I

Since Gossip Girls' season 1 and Blair Waldorf's first appearance, headbands have resurrected from the times when you were in primary. They are Blair's crowns (or were, since she doesn't seem to wear them that much now). The headband has a million possibilities, here are some of Blair's best headband moments.

I love this one. The gold colour matches her hair perfectly. The top is perfect too.

I love the bow in the middle of the head

(Doesn't she look a bit like Kate Middleton here, or is it just me?) This was one of Blair's best outfits of all time. She was wearing a Marc Jacobs dress  and the headband completed the look really well. I am quite skeptical about white shoes, but here everything was in perfect harmony.

So if you are looking for a clean, upper-east side(ish), preppy look, don't be scared to pull off a headband. If it's too much for you, dress down the rest of the outfit and let the headband be the centre of it.

Tips on wearing headbands:

- Wear it slightly towards the centre of your head (not too close to your fringe)
- I recommend teasing a bit the crown to get a slight puff after the headband so that the hair doesn't stay flat.
- Try different materials, they don't all have to be plastic headbands like the ones you always find in H&M, go for other things like scarfs, velvet, satin...
- BE CONFIDENT AND SMILE, let everyone know you love your headband.

Follow a Star

Imitation may be the highest form of admiration, this applies to all kinds of imitation, and you don't necessarily have to be a copy-cat. Some people disguise their imitation/admiration with the word inspiration  and there is really nothing wrong that, as long as you don't lose yourself and become a bad and annoying copy of someone else. As the great Oscar Wilde said: "Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions. Thei lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation"

If  I were to make a list of people/characters who inspire me, dear reader, you will be get really bored, so instead I will make a series of entries dedicated to these people. The first one, the one and only: Audrey Hepburn.

I could write a book about why Audrey Hepburn is an icon and person to look up to. Style wise aside, she was a great person. She had style, grace, simplicity, humour, wits, looks... all! And still she was really humble about it. But lets get to her look.

This set I made in Polyvore is a simple way of taking Audrey's signature look to an everyday and casual situation. It is very easy to accomplish as there isn't any specific brand or piece.

Riding around town in a pretty bicycle is also a good idea (as well as healthy and ecologic) and you can really get into the Audrey mood.

The It-Girl Diaries

Some say Blair Waldorf was inspired by the real upper east side Queen B: Olivia Palermo. I love her sense of style. This is nothing new to read in a blog, taking into account the numerous entries that are dedicated to her, but one more won't do any harm, right? One of my favourite looks of hers is this one:

I love the shoes. They make the look classy and original. Here is a Polyvore set I made to get some guidelines on the look.  This look is pretty easy to recreate, and no, you don't need to own that Chloé bag.

It's as easy as putting together a blue striped tee, a simple white skirt, a pair of nice cat-eye sunglasses, cool shoes that stand out and a big bag... Voilá! You are Olivia Palermo! Please tell me what you think of the blog, I just started it today, and some changes may be made, any type of criticism is welcomed!

The Basics

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

Happy girls are the prettiest girls, yes. All the clothes in the world won't make you a better person, try to be a good person above all, then work on your style. All this said... lets start!
